2093 days … and counting

Jul 1, 2022 | 3000 days

As of the 1 July, I will have completed 96 drawings on my scroll.

Even though it is a bit of a challenge, I am keeping up with doing a drawing a day, and the scroll is looking pretty good.

I am showing it to as many people as I can in order to tell this story, and people’s reactions are interesting – from a simple intake of breath to “You have brought tears to my eyes…” to “What can I do?”.

Getting a reaction is good because it means my visual message is having an impact.

Now, I want you to imagine …

Imagine … the richness of our natural environment today … wherever you are…

  • Look – a riot of colour with blues, greens, yellows, reds.
  • Listen – rustling leaves, birds, insects, sounds on the wind.
  • Feel – pulsing life from an electrically charged energy in the air which tingles on the surface of your skin.

Now, re-imagine this area with many of our flora and fauna struggling to survive…

  • Look – skeletal remains of trees as far as the horizon and beyond, all grey.
  • Listen – the sounds of silence.
  • Feel – deadness in the air.  This is a potential reality.

Oh dear, that is dire isn’t it, but this should energise you … what can you do to help our planet?

Every small positive action will make a difference.

Like you, I want to see our planet survive … I want our flora and fauna to thrive.  I can’t change the world, but I can do what I can within my own means to try to make a difference.

What’s next for me?

So, I will continue my challenge.  To do a drawing/painting a day for the next  2903 days on a continuous scroll, the purpose of which is to provide a visual record of the plants we are in danger of losing, and to help educate people about the fact that we don’t have much time.

I started on Earth Hour Day – 26 March 2022.  Time is marching on.  I have completed 96 drawings.  Today, 1 July, we have 2093 days to go.
