I gave a presentation about the scroll to the American Society of Botanical Artists a few days ago, and I was amazed at the responses of some people, who sent personal messages to me in the days following that seminar. The types of responses included: one person who rethinking the focus of her own artwork in response to the climate crisis; another who has decided to start running nature journaling workshops for children in her inner city apartment block; another who is rethinking the types of plants needed for a hotter future.
These are only a few examples. For me it demonstrates that while the visual arts or music or theatre by themselves, cannot change the world, they can help us to find a way forward.
